DO'S AND DON'TS
Access
Access to and from the doorway of your home is essential for our vehicles. Please explain to your neighbours in advance that a removal vehicle will be parked outside you home and may possibly cause some degree of inconvenience to them. We also ask that you ensure that passageways and staircases are left completely clear for our moving team.
Check with your solicitor/estate agents early to ensure the keys will be available for the new property.
Packing
|
If Trux Removals have quoted to perform this work for you there is little more to add than we are happy to provide you with all the boxes, tape, tissue paper and bubble wrap necessary for the safe transport of your possessions. We provide specially designed, different sized Trux boxes depending on weight of items being packed i.e. books, videos, records etc in the smaller boxes, clothes, shoes, kids toys etc in the larger boxes.
It is important that the boxes are not overfilled to allow proper stacking without damaging the contents. Always write on the top of the box the room it is going into and a very basic description of contents i.e. food, books, bedding, glass etc.

Self Assembly Furniture
Dismantling and re-erecting of self assembly furniture is not included in our standard quotation, but we would be happy to give you a quotation if required. If you decide to do it yourself this should be performed prior to the arrival of the moving team.
China, Glass and Ornamentals
Always mark these boxes Fragile to ensure extra care is taken with these items. We would use unprinted tissue paper and bubble wrap to give maximum protection.

Clothing
Any clothes can be left in the chest of drawers that are being moved. We would bring hanging wardrobes supplied free of charge on the day.

Bedding and Linen
Bedding and Linen can be placed in our large boxes or large bin bags, but please make sure they are tied up securely.
Fridges, Freezers, Cookers and Washing Machines
Prior to the removal team arriving these items should be disconnected. Owing to our insurance cover we are not allowed to tamper with electrics, gas or plumbing but if you are having difficulties we will always try to help or give advice. Freezer contents should be run down as much as possible before the day of removal and defrosted.
Contents of garages and garden shed
Please try and centralise all your garden pots, plants and loose garden items in one place. Tie up garden tools and lengths of timber in bundles. Remove the mud from garden ornaments etc, and store undercover prior to removal, brush down workbenches, cupboards, racks etc. Remember that after unloading these items the removal crew will need to handle your furniture. The dirt, dust and mud could unknowingly be taken into your new home.
Loft
Get down contents of loft prior to removal day, this enables the removal crew to assess the entire load prior to starting.
Removal into storage
If you are moving into our storage premises please make sure you keep aside the items not going into storage in a separate room if possible.
British Telecom
British Telecom need 2 weeks notice to make sure your new line is ready for use, but get this done as early as possible so you can include your new number on your address cards. Ring BT on 150 for all enquiries.
